Wyandot Dems discuss impact of addiction in the community Tuesday, the Wyandot County Democrats hosted a community action event at the Upper Sandusky Community Library focused on the impact of drug addiction in the community. Speaking were Keith Durkin, a professor of sociology at Ohio Northern University, with a research area of interest in substance abuse; Wade Melton, director of programs for Hardin County juvenile court and director of Hardin Community School, a charter school that deals with children struggling with addiction and mental health; and Tristin Kilgallon, an assistant professor of criminal justice from Ohio Northern University. Family assisted after Sunday house fire The American Red Cross is assisting an Upper Sandusky family after a two-story house fire Sunday night on Sunset Drive. An Upper Sandusky Police report states an officer responded to a fire on the 500 block of Sunset Drive at approximately 9:07 p.m. Sunday. The officer observed heavy smoke traveling north across the roadway and made contact with a female resident to confirm everyone was out of the home. Read More
Parks board firms up pool schedule With pool season looming ever closer, the Upper Sandusky parks board Monday discussed applications for pool employees. Councilman Aaron Korte said 22 lifeguard applications and four cashier applications have been received for the 2019 season. Read More

Upper girls edge Mohawk in tri-meet SYCAMORE — Upper Sandusky’s girls edged Mohawk, while Bucyrus’ boys topped Upper Sandusky for first place in a track and field tri-meet Monday at Mohawk. I can’t believe it’s not gutter The Danny Garza Memorial Foundation held its first fundraising event of 2019 on Saturday, a “Pins with Friends” bowling fundraiser at Wyandot Lanes. Rams split with Chieftains Upper Sandusky and Hopewell-Loudon split in a pair of one-run games Saturday in nonconference baseball action, with the Chieftains winning the opener 8-7 in nine innings and the Rams taking the second game 7-6. Hopewell-Loudon scored four times in the top of the seventh to tie the game at six before Upper Sandusky won it in the bottom of the seventh on a Diago Cazares RBI.
