COLUMBUS — As soon as 2005 Upper Sandusky High School graduate Jake Diebler learned an assistant men’s basketball coaching position at Ohio State University was going to come open, he expressed interest. After Mike Schrage left to become the head men’s basketball coach at Elon University, Diebler reached out to Ohio State men’s basketball coach Chris Holtmann, whom he had become acquainted with over the last two years.

An Upper Sandusky woman was injured following a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Upper Sandusky. A crash report from the Upper Sandusky Police Department states John W. Miller, 68, of Upper Sandusky, was traveling eastbound on East Wyandot Avenue in a brown 2008 Buick Enclave when a silver 2012 Chevrolet Sonic driven by Jo A. Needles, 78, of Upper Sandusky, traveling westbound on East Wyandot Avenue turned left onto South Fourth Street, striking Miller’s vehicle at 2:19 p.m.

MANSFIELD — Shelly Acres edged the Upper Sandusky White Sharks summer swim teams, 145-122 in boys competition and 180-97 in girls competition, on Saturday in a meet at Shelly Acres in Mansfield.

The skies over Sycamore exploded with a variety of bright colors Saturday night for Sycamore’s annual Independence Day fireworks celebration, which is made possible by the Sycamore Volunteer Fire Department. The fireworks were funded by donations from the community.

SYCAMORE — After 20 years of teaching Family and Consumer Sciences at Mohawk High School, Kathy Green retired this year. A Crawford County native, Green taught for 24 years overall, beginning her career with four years at Plymouth High School, where she made some life long friends.
