The Upper Sandusky Exempted Village School District has welcomed five new full-time educators into the district, along with several other first-year employees in other positions. Among the new educators are four teachers and a guidance counselor assistant. The new educators hold positions at three different schools in the district, from elementary to high school, and have varying previous experience. They are Jevon Cheney, Melissa Cunningham, Ailsa Dible, Hannah Foster and Janis Owens.

This time, the River Valley football team didn’t turn the ball over six times. Instead, the Vikings rushed 38 times for 318 yards and intercepted two passes in their 40-18 victory over Upper Sandusky on Friday at Upper Sandusky.

FINDLAY — Wynford faced a pair of two-score deficits and didn’t fold, but in the end, it made too many mistakes. Liberty-Benton capitalized on five Royals turnovers and held on for a 34-29 victory Friday night at Liberty-Benton.

SYCAMORE — Members of the North Central Electric Cooperative met Wednesday for the Action Committee for Rural Electrification and Co-Op Owners for Political Action Luncheon at the Sycamore Community Center. President of NCEC, Duane Frankart, said Ohio electrical cooperative members are the leaders of all the states in participation in reaching the goal of providing safe, reliable and affordable electricity to members.

The Andersons Inc. donated three rescue harnesses to Wyandot County EMS for its confined space rescue team.

Upper Sandusky shot well over its average but it was good enough to take a 179-198 victory against Buckeye Central on Wednesday in Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys golf action at Lincoln Hills Golf Club. Brett Montgomery medaled with a 42 — a solid score for most but 8.5 strokes off of his average entering the match. Many of the other scores were high, too, for both teams. Owen Knapp contributed a 42, Ben Latham shot a 45, and Evan Young finished with a 49 for the Rams (5-1, 3-0 N10).

Marion Harding overwhelmed Upper Sandusky 5-0 in a girls tennis match Wednesday at Upper Sandusky. The Presidents (7-1) won all five matches in straight sets against the Rams (2-4).

SYCAMORE — Three new members of Sycamore Volunteer Fire and Rescue were sworn into the department at the Sycamore Village Council meeting Thursday.

Early reports from the scene of a crash along U.S. 23/ U.S. 30 near 199 indicate one person received minor injuries in a crash Wednesday morning after 7 a.m.

CAREY — The streak continues. The Carey volleyball team increased its winning streak Upper Sandusky to seven with a 25-19, 25-23, 25-18 victory on Tuesday at Carey.
