The Upper Sandusky Middle School wrestling team finished fifth of 24 teams Saturday in the River Valley Invitational.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk Local School District teachers, administrators, board of education members and staff said goodbye to Superintendent Ken Ratliff with a retirement party Wednesday. Ratliff officially retires at the end of the year after serving as Mohawk superintendent for nine years.

For the second consecutive year, Stephanie and Randy Jacob, owners of Whole Life Fitness, are raising money to help children in Choluteca, Honduras, go to school. “We have the same nine kids and last year we were able to sponsor those nine kids plus an extra child since we raised $1,000 dollars,” Stephanie Jacob said.

The What's Cookin' cookbook discussion group held a Christmas cookie contest Monday night at the Upper Sandusky Community Library. The Upper Sandusky Elks recently held its annual Hoop Shoot at Upper Sandusky Middle School. The program was started in 1946 to promote focus, hard work and perseverance in youth.

Apostolic Gospel Church in Upper Sandusky hosted “A Moment at the Manger,” an event in which nativity comes to life through music, narration and live animals, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

For Cade Crawford of the Carey boys basketball team, the look for a game winning, buzzer-beating 3-pointer was there. With the Blue Devils trailing by one point with 7.6 seconds remaining in their first matchup with Upper Sandusky, Crawford received an inbounds pass and dribbled near the key, where he launched a desperation 3-pointer.
