BUCYRUS — Wynford High School freshmen students Daniel Kurek and Natalie Stover will be the first students to represent the Royals at the March 23 District Science Fair at OSU Marion in 11 years, after receiving superior ratings on their projects at the Wynford Local Science Fair Saturday.

Amid tidings of congratulations and sentiments of “please don’t go,” local organist Esther Walker, and the people she served celebrated the conclusion of her 65 years of musical ministry with a reception at John Stewart United Methodist Church Sunday.

James Stone, a featured artist at the Art Connections Auction Fundraiser, encourages the crowd to bid more on his piece called “Roses Make People Love.” The annual auction, held this year at Moreno’s Vault in Carey, raises funds for the Angeline Industries Art Connections program, which supports individuals with disabilities in Wyandot County.

NORWALK — Maybe this is the start of a new streak of consecutive sectional titles. On Saturday at Norwalk, Wynford won its first sectional title since the 2014-15 season with a 52-37 victory over Danbury in a Division IV sectional final.

DALLAS — The son of a Wyandot County veterinarian has been given a tremendous opportunity to participate in one of the world’s most famous races. Dr. Josh Cope, son of Robert and Jeanette Cope of Animal Hospital of Upper Sandusky, will fly to Alaska to serve as a veterinarian for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.

Members of the Riverdale High School Quiz Bowl team won the annual Hardin County meet at their school on Thursday evening. The students competed against teams from Ridgemont, Hardin Northern, Kenton, Upper Scioto Valley and Ada.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk had a senior night to remember. The Warriors gave up only three points in the first quarter and went on a huge second-quarter run while blowing out Ridgedale 87-37 to close out the regular season Friday night at Mohawk.

BUCYRUS — The Wynford boys basketball team played with high intensity early on senior night, but Upper Sandusky finished strong in every quarter to play spoiler and close out the regular season with a 62-44 victory over the Royals in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference game on Friday at Wynford.

FOREST — Forest merchants and community leaders are being encouraged to take part in a program designed to attract customers to the village’s downtown. Frances Jo Hamilton, Director of Revitalization for Heritage Ohio, discussed her organization at the Forest Community Improvement Committee’s meeting on Thursday.

BUCYRUS — Students in the Wynford Local School district spend a large portion of their time in school preparing for and taking tests, exams and assessments according to principals Nelle Ratliff, elementary school principal; Julie Miller, junior high principal; and Chris Solis, high school principal.
