The Wyandot County Council on Aging hosted senior day Thursday at the Wyandot County Fair. Seniors had $3 reduced admission to the fair and approximately 600 combined free boxed breakfasts and lunches were given out to seniors.

The Wyandot County Fair opened on Tuesday, September 11, 2018

Wednesday marked the beginning of day one of harness racing at the 2018 Wyandot County Fair. This race was won by horse No. 2 Blasco, driven by Bud High.

The 2018 Wyandot County Fair Queen and King are Katie Conley and Seth Rothlisberger. They were announced following the Junior Fair King and Queen Pageant on Tuesday at the Masters’ Building.

Arthur Hall was the first person to arrive at the Wyandot County Fair at 8 this morning. The Wyandot County Fair will take place today through Sunday.

Wyandot Memorial Hospital is offering free and low-cost health screenings at the Wyandot County Fair. The screenings are performed by healthcare professionals at the hospital’s booth in the Merchants’ Building.

Preparations for the upcoming Veterans Day events at the 2018 Wyandot County Fair were discussed at Wednesday’s meeting of the Wyandot County Veterans Service Commission. Wyandot County Veterans Service Officer Theresa Miller said she had 17 kids coming from Mohawk Local Schools and two volunteers from Honor Flight who will help the morning of Veterans Day at the fair on Sept. 11 with setting up tables, putting together gift bags among other things.

Some unique artwork now decorates the Merchants Building at the Wyandot County Fairgrounds. Local artist Dick Eyestone was commissioned to design an 8-foot-by-8-foot barn quilt for the Wyandot County Fair this year.
