Walton, Edler receive 2nd-team honors as baseball selections
Three Upper Sandusky seniors were honored on the All-Northern Ohio League baseball team released Tuesday.
Kenny Edler and Tom Walton were named to the second team, and Jordan Fagan was given honorable mention.
Edler batted .328 this season with 11 RBIs and 13 runs scored. Walton was a .368 hitter and also had a home run, 10 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
Fagan batted .281 with nine RBIs and 13 runs scored. He also pitched for the Rams, striking out seven in 11 1/3 innings.
League-champion Fostoria, along with Shelby, each placed three players on the first team.

Jury named to softball 1st team
Five Upper Sandusky softball players were honored on the All-Northern Ohio League softball team released Tuesday.
Senior Chelsea Jury was named to the first team, and senior Nikki Linhart was given-second team honors. Honorable mention went to freshmen Allie Cox and Logan Meddings and junior Katie Wetherell.
Jury was the Rams’ leading hitter with a .338 average. She also smashed a pair of home runs, scored a team-best 26 runs and had 18 RBIs. Jury also had a 4.35 ERA and 6-8 pitching record.
Linhart was second with a .303 average. She had a team-leading 21 RBIs and scored 15 runs.
Meddings was Upper Sandusky’s top pitcher, going 6-6 with a 1.98 ERA. In limited at-bats, she had two runs scored and two RBIs.
Cox hit .253 with 12 RBIs and 10 runs scored. Wetherell batted only .193, but stole 10 bases, scored 16 runs and was the team’s leader on defense at shortstop.
Bellevue, which went 13-1 in the NOL to win the league title, placed five players on the first team and eight players on the team overall.

Wynford wins district title again
BUCYRUS — For the second straight year, the Wynford girls track and field team were crowned district champion at the Division III district meet on Saturday at Bucyrus High School.
The Royals repeated as district champions with three first-place finishes and 93 points, edging runner-up Seneca East (89.83) by a slight margin. Carey’s girls finished fourth with 58 points, while Mohawk took 10th-place with 33.3 points to round out the area competition.
While Wynford managed only three victories, it was the team’s depth that helped it win the meet.
Jena Lilly and Yuvonne Henry packed a one-two punch in the 100 dash, as Lilly took first in 12.85 and Henry finished second in 12.86.
Henry earned a victory in the long jump, edging out Carey’s Healy Batton by clearing 16-7.25.
Brooke McCombs and Teneil Krebs finished with the top two spots in the discus. McCombs won the event with a throw of 138-04, while Krebs took second by tossing a distance of 119-10. McCombs also recorded a second-place finish in the shot put with a distance of 37-6.5.
Lilly qualified for the regional meet in two other events, as she finished second in the 300 hurdles (48.93) and third in the 100 hurdles. Henry also sneaked into the regional field with a fourth-place finish in the 200 dash (27.2).
