Big game
Upper Sandusky’s Chelsea Jury fires a pitch late in the game against Galion on Friday. Jury had a home run and five RBIs while throwing a one-hitter in her final game, a 20-0 victory against the Tigers.

Jury, seniors go out with 20-0 win
Chelsea Jury and the rest of Upper Sandusky’s three seniors finished off the softball season in a big way, scoring a 20-0 victory against Galion on Friday.
In addition to throwing a one-hit shutout, Jury (6-8) went 4 for 4 with four runs scored and five RBIS. She had a two-run home run in the third inning, and also had a double and a walk.
The Rams (12-14, 6-8 Northern Ohio League) scored five runs in the fist inning and added two more in the second inning before blowing open the game with a 13-run fourth inning when the Rams sent 19 batters to the plate.
“We jumped on them early,” Upper Sandusky coach Keith Diebler said. “(Galion’s pitcher) had a little bit of control problems, and a lot of base runners put pressure on. We got a bunch of hits. It was one of those days.”
Upper Sandusky totaled 14 hits, drew 12 walks and took advantage of nine Galion errors.
Shayleen Wood also had four hits and drove in four runs. Kyla Frey, Lindsey Kessler, Katie Wetherell, Allie Cox, Emily Graham and Logan Meddings had one hit each.
Beth Schaffner had the Tigers’ only hit, a two-out fourth inning single.
In addition to Jury, Rebecca Gamby, Danielle Bachtell and Wetherell are graduating.
“It’s a nice way to end the year for the seniors,” Diebler said. “We really wanted to make it special for them, and it was a great sendoff.”
