Event to teach about new sport
Geocaching is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and there is an opportunity to learn about this game Saturday in Upper Sandusky.
Those new to geocaching, experienced veterans and everyone in between is invited to Bicentennial Park for this program.
There will be an informal presentation, held in the pavilion. The presentation will start at 11 a.m. This will be an opportunity for new geocachers to learn from experienced geocachers: What is geocaching? How did geocaching start? What makes a geocache? What is GPS and how is a handheld GPS unit used? How does one find a geocache? How does one hide a geocache?
After a potluck lunch, attendees will break up into groups combining cachers of varying experiences to find new and old geocaches hidden in the Upper Sandusky area. Those who have it should bring their geogear, but it is not required of those who are new.
The event is free. It will be a potluck lunch, however, so attendees should bring potato salad, cookies, beans or fruit salad, etc. Meat, napkins, plates, soda, water, fruit juice and silverware will be provided.

CRESTLINE —
The Wynford softball team made the most of all of the recent rain.
After spending extra time in the batting cages because it has been too wet to get on the field during the past week, the Royals hammered out 13 hits in a 12-7 victory against Mansfield St. Peter's in a Division IV sectional semifinal game at Crestline High School on Tuesday.
The Royals (6-16) scored nine runs in the first two innings to take control early. The Spartans (12-10) scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and left the bases loaded, making it interesting late, but Wynford advances to today's 5 p.m. sectional final game against Mansfield Christian.
The game was a total opposite of the regular season matchup between the teams, in which Wynford took a 3-2 victory in early April.

FOSTORIA —
The third time was not the charm for Upper Sandusky, and Fostoria found it to be twice as nice. And even though the Rams had one superstar back in its lineup, it still added up to zero hits and a 4-0 loss to the Redmen on Tuesday in the Division II sectional final at Fostoria High School.
It was not perfect, but it was the second no-hitter for Fostoria's Keri Seel against the Rams (11-13) this season.
“Keri is Keri,” Fostoria coach Gabe Sierra said. “That's the best I've seen her pitch since the perfect game in Upper Sandusky (on April 8).”
Upper Sandusky coach Keith Diebler said the weakness that has plagued the Rams all season bit them again Tuesday: hitting or lack there of.
