ARLINGTON - Picking up right where she left off from her last start, Riverdale softball pitcher Kaylee Sheets simply was too much for the opposition.
This time, however, she took her command to another level. Her latest victim was Ada.
Wheeling and dealing, Sheets tossed a no-hitter as Riverdale (11-7) cruised to a 10-0 six-inning win over the Bulldogs (5-14) in its Division IV sectional final game Monday evening at Arlington High School. The Falcons advance to face top-seeded Arlington in the district semi-finals next week.
The Falcons grabbed their fifth straight win and ninth in their last 11 games.
"The last six or seven games, the defense has really picked it up and pitching has really picked it up," Riverdale head coach Doug Ebright said. "This is three shutouts in the last four games ... and we hit the ball pretty well tonight."

BASCOM - First, Fremont St. Joseph put an end to Mohawk's 62-game Midland Athletic League winning streak.
But even after a loss to North Baltimore, the Warriors still were in the mix to win a share of their seventh straight MAL title.
Hopewell-Loudon did not let that happen, though, as Nikki Dull threw a one-hitter, and the Chieftains put an end to the Warriors' league championship streak with a 1-0 victory on Monday.
Mohawk (14-7, 7-3 MAL) will finish one game back of the winner between New Riegel and Fostoria St. Wendelin, both of which hold 7-2 MAL records. Carey (6-2 MAL) or North Baltimore (5-2 MAL), which also play each other, also could share in the title.
While many teams might be glad that Mohawk's run of dominance over the league ended after six seasons, Hopewell-Loudon coach Sarah Haynes said for her team it was nothing more than a quality victory the team has been lacking.

NEW RIEGEL - High expectations surrounded Carey's softball team entering this season.
However, the Blue Devils postseason came to a premature end on Saturday afternoon, as they were upset by Arcadia, 2-1, in a Division IV sectional semifinal game at New Riegel High School.
The Redskins (12-9) scored a pair of runs in the top of the first inning and secured the win on a game-ending double play in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out and Tessa Kelbley and Ashley Mathias on second and third base, Courtney Holsinger ripped a hard hit ball to the right side of the outfield. However, Hannah Barger reeled in the catch and got the ball to catcher Angie Clemons for the final out at the plate.
"We lost because I (screwed) that up in the end and calling for the runner to go," Carey coach Eric Mullholand said. "(It was) just instinct, (a) gut feeling, stupid heat of the moment play."

MOUNT BLANCHARD - Heading into the weekend with 84 strikeouts on the season, Derek Draper has proven to be a tough match for opposing hitters.
Saturday, the Riverdale pitcher was flat out unhittable. Not only did the left-handed sophomore set a new personal single game record with 16 punchouts, edging his previous best of 15, Draper took his dominance a step further. Adding to his complete game shutout, Draper failed to allow a single base hit. Or a walk.
Draper's seven-inning perfect game resulted in a 6-0 Riverdale win against fourth-seeded Carey (6-14) in the Falcons' opening round matchup in Division IV sectional tournament baseball action at Riverdale High School. It marked the first perfect game in Riverdale baseball history.
After enduring a winless season a year ago, the No. 3-seed Falcons (7-10) are enjoying a bit of a reversal in fortune in 2008, having grabbed their seventh win as well as a postseason victory.
"I just wanted to get the win for the guys and boost our confidence going into the next game," said Draper. "Last year we were 0-22 and had a tough loss to Arlington in the sectionals so this one's for them."
Awaiting the Falcons in the next round is the No. 2 seed Ada Bulldogs (9-10) on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
