Sponsorship opportunities available for Forestry Camp

Ohio Forestry Camp will be held at Camp Muskingum in Carroll County, located near Carrollton, on June 15-20.
Programs cover dendrology (tree identification), silviculture (care and cultivation of forests), forest ecology (relationships organisms have with the forest), forest measurements (measurement of trees, logs and the inventory of stands of trees), wildlife management (how the management of forests and wildlife are interrelated) and forest products (a study of the various items created from forests).
Each camper will have the chance to demonstrate his or her knowledge on the last day if camp, with one camper receiving a scholarship for one quarter at Hocking College.
Each camper will receive a notebook that will help in his or her camp programs, a tree identification book, a tree measuring stick and a T-shirt.
The camp is open to any student who is at least 15 years old and has completed the eighth grade. The Wyandot County Soil and Water Conservation District will sponsor up to two students who live in Wyandot County on a first come, first serve basis. The fee to attend is $250.
The district will pay $200 per student, available through the Antionette Lowry scholarship banquet. The students each much pay the remaining $50, which is a non-refundable deposit.
Applications must be received in the Ohio Forestry Association office before June 4.

Upper Sandusky High School recently announced its students of the month for February.
