Christmas for a family
A trip to Pomeroy brought Christmas from area residents to residents of the southeast Ohio village. Many in the poverty-stricken town are assisted annually through Upper Sandusky Apostolic Church's Blankets 4 Kids program, which is expanding to include three more trips each year.

Residents of Wyandot County will have ample opportunities to help a poverty-stricken southeast Ohio town with a furniture drive this spring and several other drives throughout the year.
A project that was started at John Stewart United Methodist Church in 2000 by Upper Sandusky resident Andrea Culley has grown into Blankets 4 Kids, which has provided more than 900 blankets to Pomeroy children over the last few years.
The drive is expanding this year, with members of Upper Sandusky Apostolic Gospel Church driving to Pomeroy three more times than in past years to try to help with other necessities that residents of the town might be lacking.
"I headed it up until ... 2004," Culley said. "(Upper Sandusky Apostolic Gospel Church) helped us with it before. ... Lots of churches helped, but we had the trailer.

Carey BOE discusses
community surveys
By LAUREN SCHLOSSER
Staff writer
CAREY - Administering surveys to the community was the hot topic at the Carey Exempted Village School District Board of Education meeting Monday night.
The board discussed different methods for gathering public input about a possible Ohio School Facilities Commission project to renovate the current school building or construct a new one.
The two methods still in the running at the end of the meeting were calling residents on the phone and having questions posted on the district Web site. The board will research those options further.
It had discussed other ideas - mailing out surveys or having people go door-to-door.
They also discussed having volunteers or students help administer surveys.

Alex Falk
Falk named to All-Ohio 3rd team
By BRANDON DRAKE

The string of All-Ohio selections continued for Upper Sandusky's boys basketball program, as junior Alex Falk was named to the Division II third team Monday night.
Falk, a 6-3 guard, averaged a Northern Ohio League-best 28.6 points per game during the regular season and lead the Rams to an 10-12 record and an appearance in the sectional finals.
It was the first time the junior received the honor, following in the footsteps of Jacob and Jon Diebler, who both have continued their basketball careers at the collegiate level.
Falk was an all-district selection last season.
"For Alex, it's a tremendous honor," Upper Sandusky coach Keith Diebler said.

Rolling along
Tim Dye, a Bucyrus native, bowled his third career 800 series during the Wyandot Match Game Invitational last month. Dye's series of 805 lifted him past Don McLaughlin in the second round of the tournament.

Tim Dye keeps rolling along.
Already with a pair of 800 series and one perfect game under his belt, Dye earned his second honor score in the past six months by bowling a personal-best 805 series during the Wyandot Match Game Invitational on Feb. 20 at Wyandot Lanes.
"It's my personal best and I'm tickled pink," said Dye, who bowled his two other 800 series on Nov. 1, 2005 and Jan. 15, 2006. "The reason why I know these dates is that they're that special. When you shoot an honor score, you don't forget it."
