Upper police chief has first day in court on charge of unlawful restraint

Upper Sandusky Police Chief Robert Hollis found himself in an unusual position Thursday: at the defendant's table.
Hollis' jury trial for a charge of unlawful restraint began Thursday in Upper Sandusky Municipal Court.
The charge stems from an Oct. 15, 2007 incident at Upper Sandusky High School. An 18-year-old Marion man, Jesus Silva, was found sleeping in a car in the north parking lot there and was found by school personnel. The Upper Sandusky Police Department was called to the scene, with two officers arriving first, followed by Hollis.
Silva was questioned, ordered to be handcuffed and returned to the police department for further inquiries as to why he was sleeping in the parking lot. He later was driven to the Marion County line, where he was dropped off on the side of U.S. 23. Silva never was charged with any crime.

Commissioner Edward Kuenzli will be on the board, as will Fagan. Fagan will be contacting three other people about being on the board. The commissioners received a letter from Clark, Schaefer, Hackett and Company, which performed the 2005 county audit, stating that the audit is finished and giving recommendations to the county.

In December, Upper Sandusky's Jason Beidelschies was honored as an All-Ohio first-team selection. Now he is receiving an even bigger honor: the chance to play college football.
Bedielschies signed a letter of intent to play football at Ashland University, joining Rams running back Arin Neely, who signed on last month. With offensive lineman Isaac Anderson committing to West Virginia Wesleyan, Beidelschies is the third Upper Sandusky player to earn a Division II scholarship this season.
"It's exciting," Biedelschies said. "Going on and playing at the next level is real honoring. I just can't wait to go."
