SYCAMORE -
The Sycamore parks and Summerfest committees and representatives from the American Legion Post No. 250 met Thursday evening to get the ball rolling on plans for new playground equipment at the community ball field.
Sycamore Council and parks committee member Vicki Weininger said the groups would try to raise money through grants, a fundraiser and donations.
"The Summerfest committee has a design from a company out of Akron and that's the design we're going to go with," she said. "It's going to be put in when we get the money all raised. It's going to cost between $45,000 and $55,000.

Residents of Wyandot County who are affected by mental health problems and developmental disabilities will have plenty to celebrate in March.
The Wyandot County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities announced at its regular meeting Thursday night that the theme of this year's national MR/DD awareness campaign is "When doors open, we succeed," and the board and Angeline School and Industries will use the opportunity to show its appreciation to businesses and individuals who help out the local board with its services.
Many events are being coordinated for a 50 year celebration of the Wyandot County Association for Retarded Citizens and the 40 year anniversary of Angeline School and Industries.

LEXINGTON -
One extended cold spell in the second half was all it took to bring Danbury's season to an abrupt end Thursday evening.
The Lakers went nearly nine minutes without scoring a point in the third and fourth quarters, which allowed Wynford to take full advantage as it rolled to a 45-38 victory in a Division IV district semifinal girls basketball game at Lexington High School.
The win will set up a rematch of last year's district final game, as Mansfield St. Peter's picked up a 53-38 victory against Sandusky St. Mary's in the second district semifinal bout at Lexington on Thursday.

FINDLAY -
While many teams rely on one player to carry the scoring load, Riverdale showed Thursday night how good it can be to have multiple options on offense.
Kayla Brown, Kristi Kotterman and Allysha Wells all scored in double figures - in the first half - to lead the Falcons to a runaway 64-49 Division III district semifinal victory against Evergreen at Findlay High School.
Thanks in large part to Brown's 14 first-quarter points, the Falcons (20-2) jumped out to a 20-7 lead. Wells and Kotterman scored 11 points each in the second quarter, helping Riverdale pull ahead even more, 42-24.
