A final goodbye
Public officials and residents walked through the former Marseilles School building one last time Tuesday morning, as a demolition bid recently was awarded to Ours Excavating, Mount Gilead. Pictured are (from left) Joyce Morehart, a Wyandot County commissioner, and Rick Arnold, Marseilles mayor.

MARSEILLES —
It has stood on the south end of the village of Marseilles for more than 80 years, but the former Marseilles School building will not be standing for much longer, as village and county officials finalized the demolition bid contract with Ours Excavating during a special meeting Tuesday morning.
Representatives from Ours Excavating, Wyandot County Commissioners, the Wyandot-Sandusky-Ottawa-Seneca Community Action Commission and village officials, along with residents, attended the meeting and walked through the building one last time before it will be tapered off for asbestos removal next week.

BUCYRUS —
Wynford residents will have at least three Mohr years of their current leadership.
At Tuesday evening’s meeting, the Wynford Board of Education unanimously approved a contract extension for superintendent Steve Mohr.
Mohr joined the district two years ago and the board could not be more pleased with his progress, board member Brian Glowaski said.
“Steve has exceeded our expectations and we appreciate it,” Glowaski said. “With Steve and our administrators, the schools run like clockwork.”
Board president Rhonda Rowland added, “We are grateful for the work (Mohr) has done for our schools.”
Also at Tuesday’s meeting, treasurer Leesa Smith announced the refinancing of $2.8 million of school improvement bonds.

FINDLAY —
If Jim Bostdorff had his choice, the Findlay High School dance team could have danced after the game and Otsego would have skipped halftime.
The Knights boys basketball coach had his team playing just like he wanted and did not want to change a thing with his team beating favored Mohawk 35-28 at half.
But he did not get what he wanted; Mohawk adjusted and his team found itself scrambling in the third quarter and eventually falling to the Warriors, 63-60, in the Division III sectional semifinal at Findlay High School.
