Mount Union coach talks about keys to success

Larry Kehres knows a thing or two about winning football games.
After all, he has built one of the most successful programs in all of college football in his 22 years at the helm of the Mount Union Purple Raiders.
While Kehres would not reveal all his coaching tricks, he shared some of his experiences and philosophies with a crowd at Woody's Restaurant for the First Citizens National Bank breakfast on Tuesday morning. Also joining him was Purple Raiders' quarterback Greg Micheli - a 2005 Upper Sandusky High School graduate - and running back Nate Kmic.
"We've won a lot of games," he said. "Matter of fact, we try to win every game. There certainly needs to be no (apology) for that. That's what you strive for and the object is to win the game.

Signs will hopefully direct motorists to Kirby
By LAUREN SCHLOSSER
Staff writer
KIRBY - Signs eventually will point the way to Kirby, but it is not known when that will happen.
Mayor Tim Stansbery said a representative from the Ohio Department of Transportation contacted him and said signs will be put up indicating the location of Kirby and CH 330. The ODOT representative said it is not known exactly where and when they will be put up. One may be at the intersection of CH 330 and U.S. 30 in Wyandot County and one may be at U.S. 30 and Ohio 37 in Hardin County, Stansbery said.
ODOT first must do a study to determine what size of signs are needed, he said.
Councilman Scott Thiel said he does not care whether signs are put up and would rather have a ramp to Kirby.
It was discussed that a storm drainage tile on the west side of the village on old Jackson Street is plugged.

Tuesday night's home finale against Tiffin Columbian was a celebration of the career of Upper Sandusky girls basketball coach Andra Bell. But it also was a night for the seniors.
Clare Aubry scored 27 points, including the game-winning free throws with 4.8 seconds left, and Rebecca Gamby had 10 points and six rebounds in the Rams' 52-50 victory against the Tornadoes.
"This is a great way for our seniors to finish up," Bell said.
After running out more than a minute of clock, Aubry was bumped along the sideline, nearly 30 feet from the basket.
