MOUNT BLANCHARD -
The Riverdale Board of Education voted to move forward in its search for a new superintendent with assistance from the Ohio School Board Association at a special meeting Monday night.
The board heard information about assistance from the Hardin County Educational Service Center, as well as from the OSBA.
The board is moving forward with its plans about a week after it voted 5-0 against renewing the contract of long-time superintendent Joyce Plummer.
Hardin County ESC Superintendent Ron Morrison, who recommended Plummer for renewal this year, gave a presentation about assistance the board could receive from the Hardin County ESC at no cost.

CAREY -
Storms, power outages and the retirement of several local employees were just some of the challenges the village of Carey was faced with in 2007.
Some of those problems still need to be addressed during the new year, as local officials described 2008 as a year of transition for the village at the 14th annual dinner meeting of the Carey Area Chamber of Commerce on Monday evening at the Shrine Cafeteria.
"We experienced an extended power outage early in the year ... which knocked down 10 of (American Electric Power's) 70-foot power poles," said Carey Mayor John Rymer during his state of the village address.
