If Sunday was any indication, Mike Hill is ready to defend his Wyandot Match Game Invitational championship.
The 26-year-old from Upper Sandusky was a surprise winner last year, but with a 300 game Sunday, it seems defending his title in the tournament that begins Feb. 16 is a realistic possibility.
"This is probably the best year I've had, and last year was the best year I had, and I'm bowling better this year," Hill said.
He holds averages of 212, 210 and 207 in his various leagues, and he has bowled nine 700 series this year, including the 711 he finished with Sunday.
The 300 game was the third of his career, but his first since 2002 in Bucyrus. His first one was in 2001 in Fostoria.

Aubry named a McDonald's All-America nominee

Clare Aubry, a senior on Upper Sandusky High School's girls basketball team, recently was recognized as one of the top prep standouts in the nation.
The 5-9 guard ranks among the top 1,000 nominees competing to fill one of 24 positions on the girls McDonald's All-America team, which will feature an East vs. West showdown at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, at 7 p.m. March 26. The final team roster will be announced in February.
Aubry, a daughter of Bill and Kate Aubry, was nominated by the McDonald's All American Basketball Team girls selection committee, a group of 24 prominent basketball experts, including nationally-renowned coaches and top high school sports journalists.
"Clare is probably one of the best athletes I have ever had the privilege to coach," Upper Sandusky coach Andra Bell said. "She is very focused, committed and will be a huge asset to Toledo athletics."
The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU. The 31st anniversary of the boys game will tip off following the girls game at 9:30 p.m. and will air live on ESPN.
