Robert Hollis
Upper chief Hollis put on paid leave
By AARON KORTE
Editor

Upper Sandusky Police Chief Robert Hollis has been put on paid administrative leave.
The action, which was official as of 9 a.m. Monday, was confirmed by the actions of the safety committee Wednesday night and Upper Sandusky Mayor Scott Washburn.
"Chief Hollis was put on administrative leave with pay Monday morning," Washburn said. "We had a complaint against the chief and we are conducting our own internal investigation through the city. That's where we're at with that. That's all the further comment I have on that."
Washburn directed all other questions to the city's law director, Mark Ellis.
"I'm not going to comment on anything that's going on as far as the internal investigation goes," Ellis said. "We are conducting an internal investigation based on a complaint."

Incredible Years program teaches adults the basics of raising children
By LAUREN SCHLOSSER
Staff writer

Those in the Upper Sandusky area who care for children have an opportunity to learn what makes them tick, thanks to a class about effectively interacting with children.
The Incredible Years, put on by Firelands Counseling and Recovery Services, and funded partly by the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Seneca Sandusky and Wyandot Counties, will hold its first class from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Upper Sandusky Community Library. The basic parenting program will take place for 12 consecutive Wednesdays, at the same time and location.
There is no cost for the class. If a person needs childcare during the class, that should be mentioned when registering, and the program can fund a babysitter. Free transportation also can be arranged. Refreshments will be provided.
It is the second time Incredible Years has taken place in Upper Sandusky.
The program is co-facilitated by Julie Williams, a professional clinical counselor, and Randy Platt, a licensed social worker.
Incredible Years is a best-practice program, which means the information used has been through a lot of research and has proven to be very effective, Williams said.
