Presenting an idea
Doug Frisch, of the Wyandot County Business Retention and Expansion task force, gives a presentation to Upper Sandusky City Council on Monday evening at its regular meeting. Frisch said the city must participate in the formation of a county-wide economic development director position and board of directors for the plans to move forward.

Upper a crucial player if BR&E plans move forward

Gary Ward and Doug Frisch of the Wyandot County Business Retention and Expansion task force visited Upper Sandusky City Council on Monday evening, saying the city was the "800 pound gorilla" of the county and it would need to participate in the formation of a board of directors and an economic development director if the plans were to move forward.
"We've heard a lot of support (for the hiring of a county-wide economic development director)," Ward said. "This is where the rubber meets the road where you have to open the wallet up. ... The bottom line is, we need to be on the same sheet of music and singing the same key. If we can't work together within the county, we're going to have a hard time getting somebody to come here."

No quick fix to flooding in Carey
By LAUREN SCHLOSSER

CAREY -
Creeks and culverts are no match for the amount of water that comes through Carey during a big rain.
Jeff Hohman, of the Wyandot County Soil and Water Conservation District, spoke at Monday evening's council meeting about matters of water flow and drainage, after being invited to the meeting by Mayor John Rymer.
On Friday, Hohman met with Rymer and Dale Reinhart, also of the SWCD, to discuss the issues.
Hohman referred to a council meeting earlier in the month, when a resident had asked whether clearing jams in Spring Run would have prevented some of the August flooding in the village.
Hohman said he is not an engineer but would explain his observations.

Hard to contain
Carey's Nick Nusbaum (2) gets his hand in the face of Upper Sandusky's Alex Falk as he attempts a jump shot on Monday night. Falk was hard to stop, as he scored a game-high 28 points for the Rams and added 15 rebounds, 10 assists and eight steals in a 79-64 Upper Sandusky victory.

Turnovers help Rams top Blue Devils

A dominant start provided Upper Sandusky all the cushion it needed to put away Carey in boys basketball action Monday night, 79-64.
The Rams forced 34 turnovers, including 12 in the first quarter - with nine of those in the first four minutes. They converted on most of those, taking an 18-5 lead during that stretch and never allowing the Blue Devils to get any closer than seven points in the second half.
"I think we just played smart," Upper Sandusky coach Keith Diebler said. "We had our hands up. We looked fresh.
