Cole, Dennis help Blue Devils end losing streak

OLD FORT - A three-game losing streak came to an end for Carey's boys basketball team Thursday evening, as the Blue Devils limited Old Fort to single digits in the first three quarters of play as they earned a 52-27 Midland Athletic League victory.

Since then, Carey lost a pair of non-conference games against Van Buren and Vanlue and an MAL contest against Tiffin Calvert.
Derrick Cole scored nine of his game-high 19 points in the first quarter for the Blue Devils, as Carey jumped out to a 17-7 lead in the opening period. The Blue Devils then outscored the Stockaders (0-11, 0-5 MAL) in the second quarter, 13-6, and 12-2 in the third quarter, before putting in their reserves in the fourth quarter.
Michael Dennis recorded a double-double, finishing with 12 points and 17 rebounds, as the Blue Devils outrebounded Old Fort by a 37-21 margin. Brock Tong chipped in nine points, while Tyler Brodman and Ben Hall each had four.
