Patient navigator
Jessica Fox recently started working with the American Cancer Society as a patient navigator, with offices located Bucyrus, Findlay and Galion. She will help patients find information about their diagnosis and treatment, along with helping them apply for assistance programs.

FINDLAY - From her own personal experiences, Jessica Fox knows how tough it is for newly diagnosed cancer patients and their families to look for the support they need.
In a span of four years, she lost both of her parents to two of the more common forms of cancer.
Fox, 26, of Findlay, recalls when her mother first was diagnosed with breast cancer her family did not know where to turn for assistance. It was a little different with her father, who was a non-smoker who fell victim to lung cancer, as the family had been through it before and had a better idea of what would happen and where they could turn for help.

Commissioners discuss possible sale of CH 47 lot
By LAUREN SCHLOSSER
Staff writer
A little bit of county land eventually may go up for sale.
The Wyandot County Commissioners discussed Thursday that a lot of about two acres of county land on CH 47 probably will be sold at a public auction. A date has not yet been set.
Commissioner Ed Kuenzli said the land was left over after the county built a bridge on CH 47 in 2006.
The commissioners reviewed the contract that divides the costs of a new fire hall that will be built in Carey between the village of Carey, the Crawford Township Trustees and Wyandot County. The commissioners found a mistake in the signature line and contacted the Wyandot County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

Putting on a show
Upper Sandusky's Cody Gilliam knocks down a 3-pointer from the top of the key in Thursday's game against Galion. Gilliam hit six 3's, as the Rams rolled to a 83-69 victory.

Galion coach Tim Birie expected Upper Sandusky's Alex Falk to get his points.
What Birie did not expect is the Rams' Cody Gilliam to be on the mark from behind the 3-point line. Gilliam knocked down six treys - going 6 of 12 from behind the arc - and was one of three Upper Sandusky players to finish in double figures as the Rams defeated the Tigers in Northern Ohio League play Thursday, 83-69.

Calvert shuts down Mohawk

SYCAMORE - Shot after shot did not fall for Mohawk on Thursday night, and that led to frustration and ultimately it put Tiffin Calvert in control of the Midland Athletic League lead.
The Warriors score only six points in the first half and shot 19.6 percent in the game as the Senecas became the last unbeaten team in the MAL with a 42-30 victory.
"When you hang six points on the board in the first half, that's not a good night," Mohawk coach Brent Konkle said.
