Jeff Hohman recently was honored with the Ohio Federation of Soil and Water Conservation Districts Area No. 1 outstanding employee award at a recent meeting of 21 northwest Ohio conservation districts for helping implement the CREP filter strip program and working on other projects with the Wyandot County Soil and Water Conservation District.

At a recent meeting of 21 northwest Ohio conservation districts, Wyandot County Soil and Water Conservation District technician Jeff Hohman received the Ohio Federation of Soil and Water Conservation Districts Area No. 1 outstanding employee award.
Hohman, who serves as ditch maintenance supervisor, was recognized for his efforts in implementing the conservation reserve enhancement filter strip program, better known as CREP, and maintaining Wyandot County group drainage projects.

Wyandot County Commissioners sign New Year's resolutions

Several resolutions were signed Thursday by the Wyandot County Commissioners.
One resolution sets the times for the commissioners meetings, which are from 8:30 a.m. to noon and from 1-4:30 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays.
As soon as all commissioners are available after 8:30 a.m., the agenda is presented and discussions are held. Appointments are scheduled beginning at 10 a.m.
The ordinance also states on what days meetings will be held if there is a legal holiday.

 



 




Blue Devils start off new year with victory against Stockaders

With the new year comes a reason to cheer for Carey's girls basketball team, as the Blue Devils rolled to a 57-48 victory against Old Fort on Thursday night.
Carey (9-2, 5-1 Midland Athletic League) did not allow the Stockaders to find any sort of offensive rhythm in the first three quarters, as it used a superb defensive effort to head into the final quarter with a 20-point lead and the game well in-hand.


Clouse, Reamer help Mohawk pull away from Calvert, 95-44
TIFFIN - The Mohawk girls basketball team turned a relatively close game in the first half to a blowout in the second half.
The Warriors outscored Tiffin Calvert 61-20 in the second half, defeating the Senecas 95-44 on Thursday night.
Mohawk (7-5, 3-3 Midland Athletic League) led 19-9 after one quarter and 34-24 at halftime, but pulled away with a 34-12 advantage in the third quarter. The Warriors also outscored the Senecas 27-8 in the fourth quarter.
Lindsey Clouse led the way for Mohawk with 25 points, and Sami Reamer connected on 6 of 8 3-pointers for 18 points.
Abby Boes and Bridgett Wagner each reached double figures with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Ali Mass had 15 points to lead Calvert (2-9, 0-6 MAL).
