Hartle Ditch loan fund has been received
By LAUREN SCHLOSSER
Staff writer
Funds from a loan taken out by the county for a ditch project now are in the bank.
The $72,700 loan for the Hartle Ditch project is in, and will be combined with the funds from landowners who already have paid for their portion of the project, and a total of $110,000 will be transferred to the capital improvements fund.
The Wyandot County Commissioners signed a contract Monday with Medical Mutual, which will be the county's health insurance carrier for this year.
They also reviewed a financial compliance audit for 2006-07 for Turning Point, a domestic violence shelter in Marion that the county helps support through marriage license fees.
The commissioners received a draft of a subgrant agreement for three grants for the Wyandot County Department of Job and Family Services. They forwarded the draft of the agreement to Job and Family Services director Tom Bennett.

Don't count on Gee, Tressel to favor dumping bowls for playoffs
COLUMBUS (AP) - Jim Tressel padded his resume thanks to college playoffs. Once a fervent supporter of the postseason format, now he has changed camps.
As for his boss, Ohio State President Gordon Gee, do not even mention revising the current system to him. If it is mentioned, the guy in the bow tie gets downright graphic.
"As far as a playoff system, there will not be one," Gee said. "They'll have to wrench a playoff system out of my cold, dead hands."
With Ohio State poised to meet LSU in the Bowl Championship Series title game on Jan. 7, Tressel is as anti-playoffs as one can get.
Anderson or Quinn? Browns enter offseason with quandary
BEREA (AP) - Sporting a fitted Cleveland Indians baseball cap, quarterback Derek Anderson packed away a breakout season into a few boxes and prepared for the long drive home to Oregon.
He joked about going across country nonstop.
"Hopefully," Anderson said. "I'll be back, but I obviously don't control that."
The laid-back big man whose rocket right arm led the Browns to 10 victories and helped restore pride to a franchise that had gone from laudable to laughable in the past few years, wasn't sure of his future.
Nobody seemed to be.
