Officials continue negotiations over $350M wind farm

KENTON (AP) — EverPower officials continue to negotiate with Logan County commissioners over the construction of a windmill farm that would stretch from Hardin to Logan counties.

The Lima News reports the two sides are trying to reach an agreement on taxes while land for the proposed windmill farm’s 105 turbines is surveyed.

Jason Dagger, manager of the $350 million Scioto Ridge Wind Farm project, says the project is expected to generate $1.8 million in annual tax revenues, with almost half going to school systems in those counties.

Hardin County, which will have 87 of the windmills, already has in place a taxation rate of $9,000 per megawatt of electricity.

Electricity generated from the windmills will be sold on the open market and is expected to power more than 50,000 homes annually.
