Board to adjust ballot wording of pot legalization plan in Ohio

COLUMBUS (AP) — A state board that approves ballot language is scheduled to rewrite certain wording used to describe a proposal to legalize marijuana after the Ohio Supreme Court ruled that it was misleading.

The proposed constitutional amendment, known as Issue 3, would let people 21 and older buy marijuana for medicinal or recreational use. It creates a network of 10 authorized growing locations.

On Wednesday, the high court ordered the Ohio Ballot Board to reconvene and replace four paragraphs about certain requirements for marijuana retailers, the amount of marijuana a person can grow and transport and the potential for additional growing facilities.

The five-member board is scheduled to meet today in Columbus. It also will decide whether a ballot effort to limit Ohio lawmakers’ time in office is one or more issues.
