Wynford bats hot early in win

She's in there

Wynford’s Andi Perdue calls for timeout after just beating the tag from Upper Sandusky’s Lexa Cheney in the second inning of Wednesday’s regular season match-up. After the Rams won on Saturday in tournament play, the Royals enacted some revenge in an 11-6 win in Upper Sandusky.

The Wynford softball team came out on fire at the plate, scoring five times in the second inning and three times in the third inning in taking an 11-6 North Central Conference victory against Upper Sandusky on Wednesday.
With the loss by the Rams (13-8, 9-3 NCC), Bucyrus (16-7, 10-1 NCC) clinches at least a share of the NCC Black Division. Upper Sandusky would have to win its final game and have Bucyrus lose both of its final two games to claim a share.
The Royals (9-11, 6-5 NCC) took an 8-1 lead into the bottom of the third inning, but Upper Sandusky rallied to make it close again with one run in the third, two in the fourth and one in the fifth while keeping Wynford off the board to make it 8-5.

Making the catch

Wynford first baseman Kelsey Redden manages to stay on her feet while making a running catch in the second inning to record an out at Upper Sanduksy. After a scoreless first inning, the Royals hung five on the scoreboard in the second.

However, a three-run seventh inning by the Royals provided them a cushion going into the bottom when the Rams managed just one run.
“We were a little flat to start the game and the Royals were ready to play and were looking to win,” Upper Sandusky coach David Young said. “A few miscues and walks hurt the Rams.”
Andi Perdue homered and scored twice, while Colleen Hord singled, doubled and scored a run for Wynford. Kayli Stuckman singled and scored twice, while Reegan Scott and Kayle Ort each had a single and two runs scored.
Savannah Piecha hit a home run and a single and scored a run for the Rams. Paige Perry had a double among two hits and Tiffany Towns singled twice.
Stuckman picked up the win, allowing six runs on seven hits and five walks with one strikeout.
Allie Smith (13-8) struggled, giving up eight runs on six hits and three walks with one strikeout in two innings. Kelsi Knapp allowed three runs on two hits and two walks with one strikeout in five innings of relief.
Wynford avenged Saturday’s 9-5 sectional final loss to Upper Sandusky.
The teams complete Monday’s suspended game at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Wynford.
