CAREY — Jared Wentling scored 29 points to give him 68 for the weekend in a 58-55 Carey victory against Van Buren on Saturday night.
Coming off a 37-point performance against New Riegel, Wentling added 11 rebounds against the Black Knights (4-5). Bryan Powers scored 19 points for Carey, which got no more than three points from any other player.
Daniel Roberts led Van Buren with 14 points. Sawyer Junge and Braxton Fasone added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Carey led 15-13 after one quarter, trailed 29-27 at halftime and was tied at 38 entering the final quarter.
The Blue Devils had fewer turnovers, 18-13, and more rebounds, 26-21. They made 18 of 40 (40 percent) shots from the field and 17 of 20 free throws, while the Black Knights were 22 of 49 (44.9 percent) from the floor and 12 of 21 at the line.
Carey also won the junior varsity game, 46-35.
Next up for Carey is a game at 6 p.m. Friday at Hopewell-Loudon.
