Upper track season ends at final day of regionals

Upper Sandusky’s Evan Logsdon makes an attempt during Saturday’s Division II regional meet at Lexington. He missed a return trip to state as he cleared 6-3 and the final advancing spot was 6-4.

LEXINGTON — Evan Logsdon finished an inch or two short in the high jump of making a return trip to the Division II state track and field meet.
He finished sixth overall with a leap of 6-3. The top two competitors, Clyde’s Ben Wollenslegel and Rossford’s Manny Durden, both got 6-7, but Wollenslegel won on attempted jumps. Lorain Clearview’s Gerrell Williams reached 6-5. The next two competitors each got 6-4.
Last season, Logsdon went 6-6 at the state meet to place second overall.
Long jumper Tayler Daughenbaugh was the lone girls competitor for the Rams as she finished 12th in the long jump with a bound of 15-4.25.
Celina’s Gina Strable won the event with a jump of 17-7.5, while Bryan’s Alyssa McBride was runner-up (17-0.5).

Tough day

The state meet begins at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Jesse Owens Stadium in Columbus.
