Upper stays unbeaten in NCC by beating Crestline

GALION — The Upper Sandusky golf team won a match-up of undefeated teams, beating Crestline, 159-173, on Monday at Valley View Golf Course.
Alec Oney led the way for the Rams (8-0, 7-0 North Central Conference) by earning medalist honors with a 38 that included a birdie on No. 17.
Daniel Newell was one stroke back with a 39 and Stuart Young finished only one behind him with a 40. Joe Reile rounded out the team score with a 42.
“Alec, Daniel and Stuart continue to post nice scores, but I think they agree they are leaving some shots out there,” Upper Sandusky coach Graham Treadway said. “Joe had a nice round to help us out. He is starting to come around.”
Trent Howard scored a 45 and Cody Clifford shot a 52 for the Rams.
Andy Lutz led Crestline (8-1 5-1 NCC) with a 40. Brian Barnett and Sam Anatra both shot 43s, while Quintin Wilhite scored a 47.
Tyler Albright (53) and Ryan Armstrong (54) also competed for the Bulldogs.
Both teams have commanding division leads. Second in the NCC Black Division is Galion at 7-2. Buckeye Central and Colonel Crawford both are 2-4 in the Silver Division.
Upper Sandusky can add to its lead when it takes on Galion at 4:15 p.m. today at Galion Country Club.
