Upper girls qualify for district finals in 3 events

FOSTORIA — Upper Sandusky’s girls qualified for the finals of three events Tuesday in the first day of Division II district track and field competition at Fostoria.
Tayler Daughenbaugh placed sixth in the 200 dash in 27.87 and was eighth in the 100 dash in 13.51 to reach the finals in both events. Marissa Linhart was sixth in the 100 hurdles in 16.33.
Both will have to finish in the top four in their events to reach next weekend’s regional competition.
In finals held Tuesday, freshman Mallory Weininger finished two spots out of regional qualifying in the high jump, placing sixth by clearing 4-10 to score the Rams’ only points so far.
The Rams’ 3200 relay team finished one spot out of scoring in ninth place in 12:04.45.

Upper Sandusky’s Sierra Mathews sprints down the final stretch of the 800 relay Tuesday at Fostoria’s Memorial Stadium during the Division II District II meet. The Rams finished 13th with a time of 2:05.39.

Additionally, Upper Sandusky’s 400 relay team was ninth to finish one spot away from reaching the finals. The team finished in 54.16. Ceidyer Niederkohr was 10th in the 300 hurdles in 16.33.
Preliminaries are not held for the 800, 1600 and 3200 runs, while the field events are divided between the two days.
Finals events are set to begin at 4 p.m. Friday at Fostoria.
