Riverdale wins 1st set, but falls in 4

Breanna Pickett sends an attack over the net against Ontario on Monday night. Pickett was 11 of 14 hitting and 9 of 9 serving in the Falcons’ four-set loss to the Warriors.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale volleyball team won the first set before losing the next three as it fell to Ontario, 21-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-21, on Monday.
Catlin Pauley led the Falcons (2-5, 1-3 Northern Central Conference) with 17 kills and Brittany Wetherill had nine. Both also had four blocks and Wetherill led the team with 10 digs.
Laura Renteria had 21 assists on 46 of 56 setting and seven digs, while Ashlyn Walter was perfect in serving and passing on 17 and eight attempts, respectively. She also had five digs.
The Falcons take on Carey and Arlington in a tri-match at Carey at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Setting the offense

Riverdale’s Laura Renteria sets the ball Monday night against Ontario. Renteria was 46 of 56 setting with 21 assists and added seven digs, but the Falcons lost to the Warriors, 21-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-21.
