Rams top Tigers in 3 consecutive sets

Upper Sandusky turned in a fine blocking performance and beat Galion in straight sets, 25-22, 26-24, 25-19, in a North Central Conference match Tuesday night.
“We rebounded nicely from the Buckeye Central match (on Monday) to get a league victory we really needed in our division of the NCC,” Upper Sandusky coach Matthew McConnaughey said.
Taylor Graboski had 19 kills on 35 of 39 hitting. Jessi Holly added 10 kills on 17 of 19 hitting.
Jenna Holly was 15 of 16 serving and Graboski was 12 of 14 with an ace. Allison Snyder went 72 of 73 setting with 34 assists.
Defensively, Molly Owens had six blocks and Graboski had five as the Rams (5-2, 4-1 NCC) finished with 19 in the match.
“Overall, the team pulled together and played well as a unit,” McConnaughey said. “It was our best team blocking this season, too. We need to continue starting our defense at the net.”

Graboski also was 15 of 16 serve receiving while Jessi Holly was 11 of 11. Jenna Holly had a team-high 11 digs, while Graboski had 10.
The Tigers won the junior varsity match, 25-15, 25-8. Kate Taylor led the Rams’ offense with three kills and also had a team-high seven digs. Marissa Walton was 5 of 6 serve receiving.
Upper Sandusky travels to Wynford for a match at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
