Rams have 3 winners, capture title at Plymouth

The Upper Sandusky wrestling team poses with its first-place trophy it took home from the Plymouth Invitational on Saturday. Carson Mengerink, Alex Kenner and Dylan Robertson all won individual championships as well for the Rams.

PLYMOUTH — Carson Mengerink, Alex Kenner and Dylan Robertson all won championships to lead Upper Sandusky to the team championship Saturday in the Plymouth Invitational.
The Rams scored 233 points to top Mapleton’s 197.5 points.
Keegan Gullifer (120), Derek Hansen (126) and Tylor Pritchard (220) were runners-up for the Rams.
Mengerink (132) topped Arcadia’s Jarrod Bowman, 9-3, in his championship match, while Kenner (160) remained unbeaten on the year with a technical fall of Sydney Lehman Catholic’s Skylar Brown in his championship match. Robertson (195) pinned Plymouth’s Sean Bolen in his title match.
Gullifer and Pritchard were pinned in their title matches, while Hansen lost by technical fall. Pritchard wrestled for the first time this season after suffering a knee injury in the Rams’ final football game of the year.
Luis Ayala (145) and Tanner Smalley (195) were fourth-place finishers for the Rams, while Steven Richmond (138) took fifth. Will Orians (120) and Troy Landrum (152) both took sixth place.
Upper Sandusky competes in the Marion County Invitational beginning at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
