Putt attempt

Upper Sandusky’s Stuart Young putts on No. 9 at Lincoln Hills Golf Course on Thursday. Young shot a 45 in the Rams’ 167-188 victory against Wynford.

Daniel Newell shot a 37 to lead Upper Sandusky’s golf team to a 167-188 victory against Wynford on Thursday at Lincoln Hills Golf Course.
“Daniel got it going for us tonight,” Upper Sandusky coach Graham Treadway said.
Alec Oney scored a 42, Trent Howard carded a 43 and Stuart Young finished with a 45 for the Rams (8-1, 7-1 North Central Conference).
Joe Reile (47) and Cody Clifford (50) also competed in the lineup for Upper Sandusky.
Michael Powers paced Wynford with a 41, with Nate Smith finishing one stroke behind with a 42.
“This was a battle between four of the best golfers in the league,” Treadway said. “It’s always fun playing against Powers; he is a great player and solid young man.”
Quenten Stuckey shot a 49 and Brayden Pollock finished with a 56 for Wynford.
Logan Leitzy and Blaine Dunlap both had 57s for the Royals (8-5, 5-4 NCC).
No official junior varsity match was held, but among the non-varsity Upper Sandusky golfers, Zane Kitzler had the top score of 46.

Onto the green

Quenten Stuckey hits an approach shot onto the green on No. 9 at Lincoln Hills Golf Course on Thursday. Stuckey shot a 49 in Wynford’s loss to Upper Sandusky.

Wynford competes in the Ridgedale Invitational at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hickory Grove Golf Course near Harpster. Upper Sandusky plays in the Norwalk Invitational at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Eagle Creek Golf Course.
