Madison gets to foul line to beat Wynford, 53-45

MANSFIELD — Madison scored eight more points at the foul line and took a 53-45 victory against Wynford on Tuesday night.
The Rams (9-9) made 13 of 19 free throws, while the Royals (15-4) were just 5 of 6.
Meghan Harrer knocked down five 3-pointers to account for all of her 15 points to lead Wynford. Gretchen Harris added eight points.
Molea Thompson finished with 18 points, Fantasia Hood scored 17 points and MaKaila Grose scored 12 points for Madison, which had only four players score.
Wynford led 10-8 after one quarter but Madison took a 28-23 lead by halftime and extended it to 41-34 by the end of the third quarter.
Neither team shot especially well. The Royals struggled from the field, going just 17 of 45 (37.8 percent), while the Rams were 16 of 44 (36.4 percent).
The Royals committed more turnovers, 23-19, and got outrebounded 32-28.
Wynford won the junior varsity game, 46-29.
Next up for the Royals is a home North Central Conference game against Crestline at 6 p.m. Friday.
