Little League baseball, softball action gets underway

In the Major League season-opener, Elks defeated County Environmental, 5-0, as Jevon Dible hit a triple and home run to go along with five RBIs in the win.
Harrison Sheaffer and Trent Reichelderfer combined to strike out 15 in six innings, while only allowing two walks and a hit.

In Upper Sandusky 10 and younger girls fastpitch softball action, Wyandot Chiropractic picked up a 14-1 victory against Dweazley’s Repeater’s on Wednesday to open the season.
Eve Smith hit a double and triple for Wyandot Chiropractic (1-0), while Jada Manns had two singles and a triple. Nadia Morrison scored three runs.
Riley Messersmith had two singles and a double for Dweazley’s Repeaters (0-1) and Storm Rife added a double and a run.

Schilling’s Propane defeated Upper Sandusky Fire Department, 10-8, on Wednesday to open their seasons in the Upper Sandusky 10 and younger softball league.
Hannah Frey led Schilling’s Propane with a single, a double and two runs scored, while Allison Sheafer, Ravenna Grafmiller and Ashley Dilley each contributed three singles.
