FINDLAY — Liberty-Benton’s Marisa Burkett scored three straight goals in the second half to help her team pull away with an 8-0 girls soccer victory against Upper Sandusky on Saturday.
Kayla Trevino scored twice, while Molly Siford, Rachel Beeman and Sydney Stuck added one goal apiece for the Eagles.
Liberty-Benton led just 2-0 at halftime and 3-0 nearly 15 minutes into the second half. Trevino scored at the 25:38 mark and Burkett scored her first goal with 23:09 remaining and then added two more in the next four minutes.
Stuck’s goal came only 28 seconds after Burkett completed the hat trick, giving the Eagles five goals in six minutes.
Liberty-Benton fired 35 shots to only five for Upper Sandusky. Keely Stover made 21 saves for the Rams (3-6).
“Keely Stover, Brigitte Snow and Brittany Vent each had a great game,” Upper Sandusky coach Chelsea Porter said. “They gave everything they have during the game. They played with great composure.”
The Eagles also won the junior varsity match, 3-0. Makenna Searls made 33 saves.
Upper Sandusky hosts Ada at 5 p.m. Thursday.
