MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale softball team got a monster offensive game from Amber Beltz but could not overcome six errors in an 11-5 loss to Lucas on Monday.
Beltz doubled, tripled and homered while scoring twice and driving in two runs to lead the Falcons (3-15, 0-11 North Central Conference).
Riverdale led 2-1 after one inning and 3-2 after four innings, but things came undone as Lucas had three straight three-run innings to take an 11-4 advantage. The Falcons scored twice in the bottom of the seventh, but it was not nearly enough.
Jaime Robinson had two singles to lead the Cubs at the plate. Riverdale outhit Lucas, 9-7.
Paige Deal (9-6) picked up the win, while Jordyn Wright (2-13) suffered the loss.
With the victory, Lucas (14-11, 8-4 NCC) is one win away from claiming a share of the NCC Silver Division championship. Colonel Crawford (18-11, 9-4 NCC) already guaranteed itself at least a share.
The Falcons host Bucyrus at 4:30 p.m. today and then travel to Lucas for a game at 5 p.m. Friday.
