Daughenbaugh takes 11th place in heptathlon at nationals

PUEBLO, COLO. — Tiffin University sophomore Lynzi Daughenbaugh finished her outdoor track and field season with an 11th-place finish in the heptathlon at the NCAA Division II national championships Friday.
The 2010 Upper Sandusky High School graduate finished with 4,725 points, 35 points out of placing in the top 10. Central Missouri had the national champion in Lindsay Lettow (5,748 points) and runner-up in Erin Alewine (5,371).
After placing fifth in the 100 hurdles (14.18) and high jump (5-5.25) and 15th in shot put Thursday,
Daughenbaugh’s top finish Friday came in the 800 run (2:27.23), where she placed seventh. She also placed 10th in the 200 dash (25.85), 13th in long jump (16-5.75) and 15th in javelin (83-9).
Daughenbaugh placed eighth overall at the national indoor meet this winter to garner All-American honors.
Of the 16 competitors at the national meet, Daughenbaugh was one of five sophomores. Only Alewine and sixth-place finisher Zoe Sharplin (5,026 points) placed higher.
