Continental tops Riverdale

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Continental shut out Riverdale, 3-0, in a boys soccer match Saturday.
Joey Swagger scored midway through the first half to give Continental a 1-0 lead. Dallas Geckle added a goal in the 50th minute and Tyler Rue scored with 17:11 remaining.
Continental finished with 10 shots on goal to three for the Falcons (1-8-1). Riverdale’s Jackson Hankins made seven saves. Austin Mansfield had three for Continental.
Riverdale had more corner kicks, 4-3.
Defensively, Caleb Shultis and Brandon Rall led the Falcons with five intercepts apiece. Jimmy Fox and Kip Elwood both had two steals and four intercepts.
Riverdale does not play again until hosting Fort Jennings at 5 p.m. Sept. 25.
