TIFFIN — Carey led three area teams that competed Thursday in the Seneca East Invitational at Clinton Heights Golf Course.
The Blue Devils finished in the top half of the 16-team field with an eighth-place score of 348, three strokes back of Tiffin Columbian. Fremont St. Joseph was the winner, beating out Midland Athletic League foe Fremont St. Joseph, 316-321. Mohawk was 13th with a 369 and Riverdale placed 14th with a 386.
Carey got a 75 from Corbin Blair that ranked as the fourth-best score among a field of more than 90 golfers.
St. Joseph’s Connor Dudley was the medalist with a 69, two strokes better than Hopewell-Loudon’s Bryce Gorrell. Seneca East’s Nate Phillips was third with a 72.
Lincoln Stansberry was second on the Blue Devils with an 84, while Zach Boes shot a 94 and Seth Rehus carded a 95 to round out the team’s scoring.
Braydon Dunlap scored an 86 to pace Mohawk, with J.W. Riedel finishing with an 89. Hunter Jordan scored a 96 and Dillion Ochier finished with a 98.
Riverdale got a team-best score of 90 from Zach Bowman. Luke Bowman shot a 95, with Seth Thomas one stroke back at 96. Ray Rose scored a 105.
Mohawk and Carey were back in action at 8 this morning in the Lakota Invitational. Riverdale is off until 4 p.m. Monday when it hosts Wynford in its first North Central Conference match at Sycamore Springs Golf Course.
