Community volunteers planning the 22nd annual Craig Bowman Memorial Tournament include (from left) Barbara Pike, Jean Gottfried, Hickory Grove Golf Club’s Ben Grochowalski, Rose Hawkins, Marcina Mason, Paul Amos and Rosemarie Amos. Grochowalski reported fees for carts and delivery have increased, but the committee opted to keep entry fees at $65 per player for the Aug. 26 event.
HARPSTER — Hickory Grove Golf Club, near Harpster, is hosting the 22nd annual Craig Bowman Memorial Tournament on Aug. 26.
The golf scramble benefits Wyandot Memorial Hospital and is named in Bowman’s memory for his service on the hospital’s board of governors and support of its mission. The 2012 tournament proceeds are earmarked for special projects and programs at the hospital.
The event begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. and features a men’s division and a women’s division. Prizes valued at $1,600 — based on 36 teams — will be awarded, along with proximity prizes and special contests.
Each four-player team must have a combined handicap of 36 or more with only one player having a 7 or less handicap.
The $65 entry fee for each player includes green fees, cart and lunch.
Entry forms for the scramble are available at Hickory Grove Golf Club, area golf course pro shops and the hospital.
The event is limited to the first 36 teams that pay in full by Aug. 19.
