The deadline to sponsor an angel from the Wyandot County Salvation Army’s Angel Tree has been extended to Monday, organizers announced Wednesday.
Out of the nearly 500 Wyandot County children registered for this year’s Angel Tree, there still are more than 100 children available for sponsorship.
The program is held so children from low-income families may be sponsored by businesses, individuals and clubs that assist in purchasing Christmas presents such as clothing and toys.
The pick-up and gift return are located at Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church, Upper Sandusky.
The Salvation Army suggests a maximum of $40 per angel. Those who would like to spend more are asked to consider sponsoring additional angels.
“As in past years, the support of this year’s program by Wyandot County residents and businesses has been tremendous,” Salvation Army representative Jason Fagan said in a written statement. “Unfortunately, there are still a number of children in need. Please consider helping to make this Christmas season special for a child in our community.”
