Virginia Fields
Virginia M. Fields, of Wharton, died at 7:25 a.m. Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky. She was 89.
Born Aug. 8, 1922 in Wyandot County, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Thelma (Hankins) Cole. She married Ralph Fields on June 5, 1941 and he died May 26, 2004.
Mrs. Fields is survived by a daughter, Pam (Delbert) Johnson, Nevada; four grandchildren, Debra Fields and Jackie Fields, both of Findlay; and Shannon (Rae) Johnson and Troy (Ann) Johnson, both of Nevada; five great-grandchildren, Hannah and Kayla Johnson, Jordan (Pamela) Johnson and Devin and Aidan Johnson, all of Nevada; two great-great-grandchildren, Trey and Jessa Johnson; four sisters, Barbara Van Horn, Auburn, Ind.; Clarabelle Van Horn, Celina; and Annabelle Cole and Carolyn Thomas, both of Findlay; and four brothers, Melvin Cole, Findlay; Herbert Cole, Avon Lake; Foster Cole, Mount Blanchard; and Everett Cole, New Castle, Ind.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Eugene “Gene” Fields, a sister, Doris Bash, and a brother, Donald Cole.
Shortly after Mrs. Fields’ birth, her mother died and she then was raised by the late Erskine and Mildred Cole.
Mrs. Fields worked in various departments at RCA in Findlay for more than 40 years before retiring in 1985.
She enjoyed spending her summers with family and friends at Lake Erie, where she enjoyed fishing with her husband and grandchildren. She loved sports and followed the Ohio State Buckeyes and various athletes, such as Kobe Bryant and the Lakers, Tiger Woods and his golfing and Ben Rothlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The funeral services for Mrs. Fields will be private.
