Stella Brooks

MARION — Stella Brooks, of Marion, died at 7:08 a.m. Sunday, May 27, 2012, at her home. She was 86.
Born March 26, 1926 in Marion, she was a daughter of Athenas P. and Erasmia (Alex) Basacos. She married Richard Brooks in Marion on Sept. 12, 1954 and he survives in Marion.
A lifelong Marion resident, she also is survived a son, Greg (Gretchen) Brooks, of Gahanna; a daughter, Cathy (Bill) Walker, of Tiffin; and two grandchildren, Jared Brooks and Andrew Hunker.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Peter and Tom Bascos; and a sister, Harriet Bascos.
Mrs. Brooks graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1944 and is a member of the Fairpark Baptist Church. Her other memberships include AARP, Marion County Historical Society and the Marion County Senior Citizens.
Throughout her working career, Mrs. Brooks was employed at Central Soya, Union Department Store, National City Bank and for 10 years, she was a clerk at Lord’s Jewelry Store.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Fairpark Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Durtsche officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Boyd-Born Funeral Home, Marion.
Memorials may be made to Fairpark Baptist Church, American Cancer Society or the Hospice organization of the donor’s choice.
