FOREST — Shirley Ann (Osborn) Born, of Wharton, died at 6 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2012 after a seven-month battle with cancer in her home with her family by her side. She was 70.
Born July 12, 1941 in Hepburn, she was a daughter of the late Harry Morris and Betty Jane (Smith) Osborn. She married John Born I on Oct. 10, 1964 in Patterson at the church parsonage.
Mrs. Born leaves behind five children, Shelly Ann (Mike) Dunn, of Alabama; John (Rachel Patton) Born II, of Marseilles; Matt Born, of Wharton; Donna Jean (Phil) Naus, of Patterson; and Mark Alan (Terri) Born, of Carey; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren, two special girls that were like her grandchildren; a special family friend; a brother, Thomas E. (Joyce) Osborn, of Graytown; several in-laws; and many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard (Karen) Osborn and John (Cheryl) Osborn; and a sister, Millie Whitaker, of Marion.
Mrs. Born worked on the family farm. She was a housewife, a loving mother and a retired cook.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Clark Shields Funeral Home, Forest, with the Rev. Denny Livingston officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
