Paul Edward Gabringer, of Centerville, died at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Miami Valley Hospital after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his family and many caregivers. He was 85.
Born Dec. 5, 1926 in Tiffin, he was a son of the late Bernard and Corrine Gabringer.
Mr. Gabringer is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty; five sons, Jim (Terri), Gary, Phil, Bob and Chuck; six grandsons, Greg, Michael, Matthew, Sean, Spencer and Joseph; a great-grandson, Colton; a brother, Norbert, Sylvania; and two sisters, Jane (Bud) Thiel, Upper Sandusky; and Joan (Vernon) Gilsdorf, Tiffin.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John.
Mr. Gabringer was a graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School and Tiffin University, where he earned a degree in accounting.
He was a proud World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy as a radioman on board a landing craft in the Philippines.
