Dennis Orwick
CAREY - Dennis E. Orwick, Carey, died at 4:10 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2008 at his residence. He was 72.
Born Sept. 30, 1935 in Mount Blanchard, he was a son of Harry and Gladyes (Nichols) Orwick. He married Mary L. Moran on Nov. 24, 1956 at North Salem Lutheran Church, Upper Sandusky, and she survives in Carey.
Mr. Orwick also is survived by three daughters, Denise Orwick, Deanna Black and Mindy Getz, all of Carey; six grandchildren, Logan, Brandon, Noah and Lydia Black, Devon Orwick and Creston Getz.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Violet Risner, Helen Altman, Mildred Decker and Beulah and Virginia Orwick; and three brothers, Earl, Wilber and Junior Orwick.
Mr. Orwick was a 1953 graduate of Salem High School. He retired from Cooper Tire and Rubber in September 2000 after 36 years.
He was a United States Army veteran.
He was a member of the Wyandot County Sheriff's Auxiliary.
Mr. Orwick enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family, fishing and bowling.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at North Salem Lutheran Church with the Rev. Andrea Starn officiating. Burial will follow in North Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. Thursday at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Wyandot County Chapter of American Red Cross in care of Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey OH 43316.

Edward J. Spicka, formerly of Upper Sandusky, died at 10:47 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008 in Fairfax, Va. He was 76.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Bringman-Clark Funeral Home. Burial will be in Chandler Cemetery, Marseilles. Visitation is from 9-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Hylas Turney
BUCYRUS - Hylas C. "Polly" Turney, Bucyrus, died Sunday morning, May 25, 2008 at Maplecrest Assisted Living. She was 96.
Born July 29, 1911 in Benton, she was a daughter of Floyd L. and Maggie L. (Keller) Jury. She married Joseph M. Turney on Feb. 10, 1930 and he died Jan. 31, 2001.
Mrs. Turney is survived by two daughters, Barbara Miller and Joyce Leuthold, both of Bucyrus; seven grandchildren, Nancy Miller, Sycamore; Fred Miller, Penny Cuffman and Tom Miller, all of Bucyrus; Doug Leuthold, West Chester; Mari Stormer, West Mansfield; and Mark Leuthold, Hamilton; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Jury, Forest; and a sister, Mildred Amole, Galion.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Sheridan and Robert Jury; and a sister, Avonelle Grau.
Mrs. Turney was a 1929 Marion Harding High School graduate. She was a homemaker.
She was the oldest member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed knitting, flower gardening, spending winters in Florida, teasing people and sharing jokes.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m. today at Wise Funeral Service, Bucyrus, with the Rev. Sondra Snode officiating. Burial followed in Grand Prairie Cemetery, Brush Ridge.

| Donald Rhoden
NAPLES, Fla. - Donald E. Rhoden, of Naples, Fla., and Spring Valley, Calif., and formerly of Upper Sandusky, died May 19, 2008 in Naples after a long battle with cancer. He was 64.
Born June 5, 1942, he was a son of Mildred and Ollie Rhoden.
Mr. Rhoden is survived by two daughters, Pam and Lisa Rhoden, both of Naples; two sons, Donald and Mike Rhoden, both of Naples; a brother, Rex Rhoden, Naples; and two sisters, Elaina Franks, Naples; and Marilee Lanker, Wharton.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis; and three grandchildren, Kyle Lee Johnson, Adam Rhoden and Kaylynne Collins.
Mr. Rhoden graduated from Upper Sandusky High School. He was a security officer for Pinkerton, Naples.
He loved traveling and spent the last two months of his life surrounding by friends and family.
Funeral services were held in Naples. Mr. Rhoden was cremated.

Melinda Henning
BOARDMAN - Melinda L. Henning died Sunday, May 25, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, following a brief illness. She was 45.
Born Oct. 26, 1962 in Upper Sandusky, she was a daughter of Robert Jr. and Shirley (Schrader) Henning, who survive in Honor, Mich.
Ms. Henning also is survived by a sister, Polly Kramer, Delaware; many nieces and nephews; a grandmother, Mary Henning, Morral; seven cousins; and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Julie Jones; a brother, Scott Henning; and grandparents Lewis and Elizabeth Schrader and Robert Henning.
Ms. Henning grew up in Morral and was a 1980 graduate of Riverdale High School. She also graduated from Ohio State University in 1984, where she pursued a passion of becoming a naturalist and earned a bachelor's degree in natural resources.
In 1987, she moved to Pittsburgh to work with Pittsburgh City Parks. In the early 1990s, she relocated to the Youngstown area and began working as a naturalist with Mill Creek Metro Parks.
She currently had been the manager of interpretive services at Ford Nature Center.
Ms. Henning was an active member of the Youngstown Road Runners Club and had served on the board of directors for the Youngstown Peace Race.
She also belonged to a number of nature and environmental education assocations.
She was a member of Fair Park Baptist Church, Marion.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Friday at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in memory of her sister, Julie.

| Treva Bash
FOREST - Treva B. Bash, West Gage Street, Forest, died at 10:55 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2008 at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay. She was 85.
Born Sept. 18, 1922 in Arlington, she was a daughter of Harvey and Leafie (Wheeler) Riegle. She married Clarence E. Bash on May 22, 1940 and he died Sept. 27, 2007.
Mrs. Bash is survived by two sons, Robert, Forest; and Gary, St. Petersburg, Fla.; four grandchildren, Barb Ellis, Kelly Martin, Mark Bash and Kim Frey; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester and Eugene Riegle; and a sister, Mary Stone.
Mrs. Bash was a 1940 graduate of Forest High School. She was a homemaker and had worked at Brinkman's Farm Cannery, Arlington.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Forest.
She enjoyed spending time with her family.
A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Clark-Shields Funeral Home, Forest, with the Rev. Donald Clinger officiating. Burial will follow in Hueston Cemetery, Forest. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to an organization of the donor's choice in care of Clark-Shields Funeral Home, 301 S. Patterson St., Forest OH 45843.

 Timothy Quail
FOREST - Timothy Allen Quail, of South Warner Street, Forest, died at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, May 25, 2008 at his residence. He was 52.
Born Aug. 27, 1955 in Upper Sandusky, he was a son of Donald W. and Loretta (Frey) Quail. He married Cheryl "Tiana" Quail on Dec. 18, 1987 and she survives in Forest.
Mr. Quail also is survived by two sons, Timothy A. II, Forest; and Donald Health, Upper Sandusky; a daughter, Kshonnah Wilson, Kenton; five grandchildren; a stepmother, Marlene Quail, Upper Sandusky; a brother, Danny, Forest; two sisters, Mary Lou Clark, Bucyrus; and Pamela Swartz, Forest; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary.
Mr. Quail was a 1973 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School. He was a truck driver for Ryder Trucking Company and was the former owner and operator of the Blue Room, Kirby.
He was a member of Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Parish, St. Mary Chapel, Kirby.
Mr. Quail was a life member and past commander of McVitty Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1182, Forest. He also was a life member of AMVETS Post No. 777, Upper Sandusky.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Patterson Cemetery, rural Forest, with the Rev. Kevin Wintersteller officiating.
