Ted Caldwell
NEVADA - Ted E. Caldwell, Nevada, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at his home after a battle with cancer. He was 63.
Born April 26, 1945 in Bucyrus, he was a son of Keith E. and Louise (Moor) Caldwell. He married Maureen Duffner on June 18, 1966 at Nevada Lutheran Church and she survives.
Mr. Caldwell also is survived by two sons, Barry, Pataskala; and Brian, Bucyrus; a daughter, Amy Shatzer, Tiro; six grandchildren, Rae Ann, Wyatt, Martin and Lanny Caldwell and Saulee and Seth Shatzer; a stepsister, Emily Swihart; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a child in infancy and a brother, Gary.
Mr. Caldwell was a 1963 graduate of Nevada High School, with his class being the last to graduate from the school. He retired in 2006 as a tool grinder for Bucyrus Blades after working there 43 years. He also was a former member of the Nevada Volunteer Fire Department and was one of the first emergency medical technicians in Nevada.
He loved tinkering, fishing with his grandchildren, playing cards at the former Dave’s Place, drinking coffee with friends at Cruiser’s, following the Ohio State Buckeyes and spending time with his wife and family.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Nevada United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brandon Keck officiating. Burial will follow in Nevada Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the church and one hour before the service Friday.
